Connecting the Head with the Body_5-17_08_BG 1.41

With our spiritual knowledge we have the role of the head in society. The body is already there, we just need to find ways how to connect with it.

Translation:  When there is increase of unwanted population, a hellish situation is created both for the family and for those who destroy the family tradition. In such corrupt families, there is no offering of oblations of food and water to the ancestors.

summary:

Kula means cultural family as much as biological. The consequences of varna mixing is that the children are not raised with the same common background and religious culture. Romaharsana is an example of varna-sankara. His mother was a brahmani, his father a ksatriya. That gave him the pride not to stand up in front of Lord Balaram. To be an outcast means to be out of varna. There was rigid genetic engineering. All these points have to be considered in order to understand Arjuna’s argument.

There are very few descriptions of collective religious activities back then (one is Rukmini at her Durga temple).

Srila Prabhupada’s main concern was to put a head on a disembodied head. He wanted to connect both. We have to give people the idea that we are the designated leaders. We have to make an effort to attract people and think how to present ourselves, not just to show up and expect people to accept us as the head of society. We have to become more refined (e.g. in the way we sing Hare Krsna so that is attract people). Srila Prabhupada asked Srila Acaryadeva to translate his teachings into a language which is cultural effective. We have to have our fingers at the pulse of society. We don’t have to create a new body, but the head has to come up with the idea how to connect to the body.
