Srila Acharyadeva's 40th Sannyasa Anniversary Retreat Weekend

On the weekend of May 11-13th, 2012, devotees from around the world gathered at the Ratna Ling Retreat Center in Cazadero, CA in celebration of

Srila Acharyadeva's 40th Sannyasa Anniversary.

It was forty years ago on the auspicious anniversary of Lord Nrsimhadeva’s Appearance Day (May 27, 1972) that Acharyadeva, at the young age of twenty-three, took formal vows of sannyasa in the presence of Srila Prabhupada. As we reflected on the gravity of his vow and the resulting four decades of tireless service as an ISKCON spiritual master, siksa guru, GBC representative, scholar, manager, and preacher, the weekend was spent glorifying Acharyadeva for encouraging and assisting not only ourselves but hundreds of thousands of other individuals in pursuit of Krishna consciousness.

After leaving the retreat center on Sunday afternoon, the weekend concluded with a guided tour of Berkeley in which Acharyadeva pointed out where he first met Srila Prabhupada in 1969, the first ISKCON temple in Berkeley where he joined shortly after, and places where he and the devotees would go out on sankirtan in the early days of ISKCON.
